Three Reasons to Buy a Used Nano Online

Article by Jack Spence

The Apple iPod is one of the most popular consumer products to come along in the last decade. Since their first appearance in late 2001, Apple has produced many models of the iPod. One of the most popular iPod models is the Nano. In fact there have been three generations of the Nano; beginning with the 1 GB with only picture viewing capabilities right on up to the 8 GB Nano which gave its owner the ability to actually watch video.

These multi-generational releases has resulted in thousands of Nano owners upgrading to the latest model. Consequently thousands of Nanos have found their way onto online auction sites such as eBay making them available to anyone looking to buy a used iPod Nano online.

But just because they’re available online, why should anybody want to buy a used iPod Nano online? In my opinion, there are many reasons to buy a used iPod Nano online, but here are my top three.

Price! Price! And Price!

The biggest reason that people will consider buying a used iPod online is because of the price. It is one of the factors that made sites such as eBay so popular to begin with. We’ve all heard stories of someone buying a computer, a rare collectible, or even a car on eBay at a fraction of the price that they would have paid in a bricks and mortar store. As result, millions of people every day log onto eBay hoping to become part of one of those stories.

And of course it’s true. Every day people find the exact the iPod Nano in the exact color with the exact accessories that they need at a fraction of the price that they would pay. Sometimes, they’re even able to get a bargain on a completely new iPod Nano.

Security

It sounds strange to say that buying on eBay can be safer than buying in a bricks and mortar store from someone you deal with in person. This is because experienced eBay sellers have a profile for everyone to see. This means that you will know how others, who have purchased things from the same seller, feel about them as reflected in their feedback scores. Consequently, their reputation is available for anyone to see-unlike the clerk or owner at an electronics store.

You’ll know whether they are straight shooter or scammer, whether they deliver on time or deliver late. And most importantly you will know exactly what you will be paying for. EBay makes this transaction transparent.

Selection

Every day millions of people try to sell millions of things to millions of other people. This is especially true for a popular item such as the Apple iPod Nano. As a result you will be able to choose not just from one, but from several of the iPod Nanos that appeal to you. You have a choice of colors. Sizes. Generation. The amount of memory. And price points.

The combination of price, security, and selection ensures that you get what you want, at the price you want, and all the while having the security of knowing the exact reputation of the seller you’re dealing with.

Buying a Used Laptop or Refurbished Laptop for Your College Student

Article by Blair Stephens

As summer approaches and a new batch of high school student graduate and head for college, many parent struggle with whether or not to buy their college student a laptop or desktop computer. Of course, to the student, the question is not whether or not to buy a computer, but which kind am I going to get? Truth be told, everyone can be happy – new students can get a laptop and mom and dad can avoid breaking the bank – with used laptops or refurbished laptops. If you purchase a used laptop or refurbished laptop you have the opportunity of getting the computing power that you need at a fraction of the price. The only thing to consider is what your student will be doing with that computer and how much money you have to spend. For instance, if you are considering budget, a new laptop will probably cost upwards of 0.00 by the time it gets to your home, and into their hands. Between the build costs, shipping, software and everything, the money adds up pretty quickly. If you have 0.00 or less to spend, you should consider a used laptop or a refurbished laptop computer for your college student. As noted, the other issue to consider if what kind of computing power they really need. Here is a quick rundown of what they will probably need (and want) for their school laptop.1. WiFi! Wireless networking is popping up on campuses across the country. What’s better, after all, than allowing your students access to the internet across the entire campus? The good news is that even older laptops can be made WiFi compatible – all you need as wireless networking card, and at only .00, this is an easy upgrade to handle. You should make sure your computer also has an Ethernet adaptor for plug-in access to the network.2. Battery Power! If your student loves to use their laptop on the run, they may not be happy with an older or used laptop that has a short battery life. You can purchase newer batteries that will be compatible, but they still only last 2 or 3 hours. In most cases, you student will have access to an outlet close by, and a 2-3 hour battery life will still help him or her watch their favorite DVD on the plane to and from school. 3. Memory! They will need sufficient memory to work with the applications they use most. For instance if you have an English major, they may only need about 8MG or RAM because they will mostly be using word processing programs like MS Word. However if they want to do a lot of internet browsing and research, you should upgrade the memory to at least 64MG. Finally, if your student is a future programmer and current gamer, you’ll need to do a lot of hunting to keep your laptop at bargain prices since you’ll probably need at least 2 GB RAM, a speedy CPU and a decent graphics chip to keep them happy. In fact, if you plan to use a lot of processing power, you may just want to go new!Remember, you don’t have to break the bank to provide your pride and joy with a proper computing tool at college. Think hard, with them, about what they really need and let them help you work within the budget to get them the most for the money. Not only will they know their machine and value the investment used laptops or refurbished laptops – you are also teaching them the most important lesson about being a college student – how to get a bargain!

Buying a Used Computer Through Ebay/Craigslist

Buying a computer doesn’t have to put you in debt. You can find a machine that fits your budget and still provides the same functionality that you need to get from it. Most computer users need a machine to do an assortment of basic tasks and will not need the awesome power of the most expensive machine out there. Internet browsing, sending emails, video chat and downloading mp3s or movies require the use of a big hard drive and a basic processor with adequate ram. You don’t need the intense processor or over the top graphics card. In fact, you could probably get by purchasing a slightly used computer. Here are your options if you decide to go this route.

Ebay.com

Do your research and find a computer that will fit your needs. Then, when you are ready, head over to ebay.com and see if you can get a used model of that computer for a discounted price.

Who knows, you might even get lucky and get a grey market computer that isn’t used, but comes at a discounted rate. The key to using this website is the keywords, so make sure you don’t put too many or too little. The best part about using ebay is that some purchases paid for using paypal will qualify for buyer insurance, should the item you buy be defective or damaged. This makes it relatively safe to shop for a computer through here.

Craigslist.com

Craigslist is the ghetto version of ebay. It operates similarly, however buyers and sellers typically have to meet in order for the transaction to happen. This meeting makes most of the transactions mostly local. The benefits to using craigslist is that you can find almost anything here and it is almost always much cheaper than anywhere else.

Because there is no tax on items sold, the seller can market the item at a lower price point. The only problem with using craigslist is that there is no buyers insurance. All the equipment you buy should be tested extensively before handing over any money. Should there be a problem later, it would have to go through the local authorities and could require lots time to settle.

ipad2forfree.org Click Link to the Left for a FREE iPad 2! Here is an article I wrote about the Apple ipad 2 in case your are interested It only feels like yesterday that the media was going crazy over the release of the original Apple iPad, it quickly became one of the most desirable consumer products. This ipad 2 review will help you to understand what changes have been made to the new release that make it an even more attractive proposition. If you are not sure whether a tablet PC would suit your needs, the following information should help in making you decide. Different than most manufacturers of computer products, Apple always garner a lot of attention when they release an updated version of one of their offerings. The new iPad has undergone some obvious changes, both in terms of the technical configuration and its appearance. At first glance you may think that this new release is fundamentally the same as the previous model, but there are some important changes. For example, the latest version is thinner and sleeker than its predecessor. Also, there is more of a curve sweeping along the edge, allowing it to feel different when held. If you were to compare the weight of the two releases in your hand, you will feel that this latest incarnation is much lighter. The biggest changes are on the inside. Apple have take the feedback given after the release of their first tablet and initiated some welcome improvements. This latest release has a different chip, the dual core …

Image by PNNL – Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Computer Security: How Are Patches Used? Article by Greg Haehl Patch sizes vary and may be as small as some kilobytes or go as high as a hundred megabytes and higher – the larger the size, the larger the change the patch is bound to do. Typically, when media, such as pictures and sounds, are changed or added instead of program, files become rather large. This is usually seen in patches designed to update or modify computer games. Unlike software designed for initial installation process, patches generally are faster to apply. Some patches may be acquired from the manufacturers and sent to users in diskettes or discs, while others may be downloaded through the Internet.
Computer Security: How Are Patches Used?

Article by Greg Haehl

Patch sizes vary and may be as small as some kilobytes or go as high as a hundred megabytes and higher – the larger the size, the larger the change the patch is bound to do.

Patches that are downloadable could take longer to acquire depending on the connection speed.

Most patches that are designed for operating systems and software for computer servers are created to fix important holes in the security system. Some operating systems allow automatic update or semi-automatic updating that allows the continual feed of patches whenever there are changes done by their authors.

A lot of people, especially those in the corporate world, decline getting totally automatic updates because there were many experiences of patches causing glitches. Some software experts also believe that allowing totally automatic updates may let software companies acquire limitless control over people’s computers. Thus, varying degrees of automation has been offered in relation to getting patches.

The use of totally automatic updates is rather more popular for the consumers because most operating systems, Microsoft Windows in particular, have added them as a support tool. Its creators have also set the automatic updates for Windows as default.

Some users, especially network system managers, are very wary about installing patches. They put off applying them until they have clear proof that the fixes are stable. Most large patches or those that promote sudden significant alterations are distributed first with limited availability as beta tests for qualified developers who would know what to do in case something wrong happens.
Patches that are made to modify the programming of hardware are called firmware and are rather challenging because they entail complicated steps such as re-embedding sets of code on devices that involves that total modification and installation new codes for programs instead of just simple alterations to the existing version. Usually such patches perform delicate modification processes that could compromise the device if not installed properly, rendering it useless.

Article by Pamela Kopecky

With the current economic competitive market, many United states individuals are seeking new avenues to build a little extra cash. It is now difficult for an average citizen to form ends meet. Most people are looking for some kind of part-time work to aid our cash flow. Some are even thinking about selling stuff that they don’t need. Electronic items like cell phones, Audio players and laptops top the list of items that men and women are looking to sell. Some are even exchanging their high-end gadgets for low-end ones. If you own extra laptops or do not have long for their services, it is quite likely that you will be considering selling them to get more cash at your disposal. Here’s a few techniques to try:

There are lots of free classified sites where you can post a available advertisement. Anybody can post all the relevant information for example the laptop’s configuration, its functionality, the expected price and any add-ons on sale. One also needs to provide their own name and number for your list to make contact with on. Using this method may take time before you start receiving responses from interested people. One is completely on his/her own from start to end of this process.

Another easier and direct approach is to see a firm that deals in used laptops. A lot of companies position themselves to take good thing about the used laptop market. They offer laptop repair services too. By doing this is fast and a fairly preferred mode for victims hard-pressed for time or those who are looking to exchange their old laptops for new ones. You don’t need to have to set up meetings with your clients. You do hot ` rejection either.

Oftentimes, models also line up some discount strategies which you could return your worn or used laptop in exchange for a new one at a price.

Should your mobile computer is not in a fit condition to give more service, you might dispose it by sending it to a recycling plant. However, even if your laptop is just not performing, most likely some of its components are in working condition. Selling these to a second user laptop dealer can fetch you a small sum of cash.

Auctioning your laptop on sites like auction web sites is yet another way of getting some value out of your worn and used secondhand laptop. Selling to a pawnshop is an additional option, albeit a less preferred one as it may lead to an unfair deal.

Summary:

A laptop has high monetary value. Even old, slow and not fully functioning computers can resell for a small but significant sum of money that may prove helpful during poverty. Many computer-repairing companies are able to pay cash for worn, used and second hand personal computers so that they may use the working parts to fix computers and sell the redone ones at reduced price in order to make profits. However, you the seller of the laptop also get plenty in the discount.

Buying Used Printers

If money is really tight for you, buying a used printer can be a great way for you to find the value you are looking for. Granted, many brands and models of printers are quite affordable these days. Yet if you want a model that is more than you have budgeted for, a used one may be a great way for you to get what you want now instead of saving up for it.

For those that don’t have much income or college students, most will agree that a used printer is better than none at all. It can be frustrating to always try to get to the library to print materials that you need. It can be inconvenient and you will need to have a way to transfer the data from your computer to theirs.

The biggest problem though is you really don’t know how a used printer has been treated. Does it have lots of life left in it? Does it come with full ink cartridges or is that going to be an expense for you right away? Is there a warranty if the printer doesn’t work for you? Chances are these types of items will be sold as is.

It never hurts to ask why someone is selling a printer though.

It could be that they got a new computer and it came with a free printer. That is a common enough promotion out there. They may have outgrown the need for a basic printer so they upgraded to one that was faster or offered them additional features.

Where you will find the most value though with used printers is in the area of commercial ones that are often used in printing businesses. They may have gone out of business, retired, or simply upgraded their equipment. As a result they are selling their used items for a fraction of what they paid for them. Once again though you need to find out what the quality is before you buy them.

You want to only invest in a used printer that has lots of life left in it.

There are plenty of places too out there where you will find used printers. The local newspaper and bulletin boards around colleges may have them featured. The internet is a great place too. Both eBay and Craigslist are common places where people offer such items that they wish to sell.

strengthen America’s role in the international electronics stewardship arena

With the shift in the government?s preservation actions, consumers must follow. Despite EPA reports that consumers still struggle to understand and achieve sustainable consumption, there are numerous simple solutions that consumers can adopt. To begin with, recycling one of the most widely used electronic devices, the cell phone, is a good start. According to the USEPA, approximately 14 million Americans recycled their used cell phones in 2007. Recycling and reusing consumer electronic devices such as cell phones, PDA?s, chargers, and batteries facilitates energy conservation and keeps reusable materials out of landfills.

Here?s how it works. Cell phone and PDA devices are built from precious metals, coppers, and plastics which all take energy to mine and manufacture, not to mention gas emission. As reported by the USEPA, recycling 100 million cell phones could save approximately 7,500 pounds of gold and return these valuable resources to the supply chain, thus minimizing waste. This would prevent 12 billion pounds of loose soil, sand, and rock from having to be moved, mined, and processed. These benefits are considerable.

Now, there is an additional incentive for those savvy consumers whom want to trade in an old cell phone without losing all investment. The benefits are twofold, consumers can sell used cell phones to gain extra cash and reduce waste by increasing product lifespan. An organization that buys and recycles used cell phones for cash, like an old iPhone, is SellandRecycle.com. SellandRecycle.com, an up-and-coming green company, provides consumers with easy to use recycling and reselling services while offering some of the highest product payout.

It?s clear that the environmental benefits of recycling are worthwhile. Recycling consumer electronics amounts to energy savings, waste and emission reduction, and re-utilizing valuable metal materials.
