Q&A: Why do PARAMORE never seem to have stage monitors when they play?

Question by Frosty: Why do PARAMORE never seem to have stage monitors when they play?
Whenever i’ve seen Paramore Live, they never have monitors so how can they hear themselves?
Also there seems to be shortage of guitar amps on stage. On the final riot tour, there’s not amps or monitors so does anyone know why this is and how they can hear themselves effectively on stage?
Surely it cant just be down to in ear monitoring?

What agency monitors grocery store item price accuracy based on advertised price and shelf sticker?

Question by jdtt34: What agency monitors grocery store item price accuracy based on advertised price and shelf sticker?
I am consistency over charged at my local grocery store. And while I try to watch while my order is being checked out, the order is always wrong. There always seem to be items that are advertised (or shown on store shelf) to be one price but come up as another. I am inevitably overcharged $ 5-$ 6 per week. Last week it was $ 12 and I had to go back with the receipt. That was too much to take in. I complained about the overages. Showed them the last 6 receipts and they didn’t seem to care much. Is there an agency that monitors consumers affairs in regards to grocery store accurate pricing requirements? Thanks for answering.

Start a class action lawsuit. Run an ad in the paper and see if you can get others to sue together. I bet they will listen then!

Graphic Designers / Webmasters: How to choose the best resoultion with 2 different monitors?

Question by Jim H: Graphic Designers / Webmasters: How to choose the best resoultion with 2 different monitors?
My boss asked me this question:
You have two monitors: 22″ and 17″. The 22″ is 16:9 aspect ratio and the 17″ is a 4:3 aspect ratio.
If you are using them side by side, what resolution should each monitor be so it doesn’t seem stretched out and disorted.
I’ve tried every single resolution pattern and still think one is still weird while the other is fine. Anyone have any idea?
Of course, the bigger screen is for design / coding.. the smaller one is for consumer view.

I use to have one wide and one standard. No matter what you will have disproportional issues between the two since one is wide the other is not. I would stick with the highest resolution allowed by your 4:3 aspect monitor (non-wide screen), any higher and stretching will occur.

Check your audio input output set up. Remember in most cases the signal coming from certain devices travels one way, like a DVD player sends the output to your stereo, but you can’t send a signal to the DVD player.

How to run three monitors from one video card?

Question by Jeremy L: How to run three monitors from one video card?
I am trying to put together a great flight simulator on my computer and want to run three monitors off of a single video card. Can someone recommend a video card that can run three (or four) monitors? I’ve heard of the Matrox Triple-Head, and have heard it’s good. Anyone with experience with the Matrox unit, or with the new ATI 5800 series?

I am assuming you have Windows XP here…
First make sure you have a graphics card that supports two monitors.
Connect both to your PC.
Right click anywhere on the desktop wallpaper and click ‘Properties’
Click on Settings and you should see 2 screens
Select the one that is numbered ’2′ and probably hatched out
Select the ‘extend my windows desktop onto this monitor’
You should now be good to go.

Do big screen TVs and computer monitors have dangerous rays coming out of them?

Question by iheartcavs: Do big screen TVs and computer monitors have dangerous rays coming out of them?
I’m thinking about getting a big screen TV, but I’m a little worried that there are dangerous rays projected from them? Like cancerous rays. Old computers had monitors with bad rays, and we used to put those protective screens over our monitors. I’ve been told that this problem has been corrected on newer computer monitors. Is that true, and are big screen TVs safe, or do they have dangerous rays? This is really important to me. Serious answers only please – thanks.

What you are talking about are electro-magnetic forces. They weren’t rays, but forces that are given off by electric and electronic things. Some shielding is done, but not a lot. They can be carcinogenic to some of us. The key is to remain distant from them while the machines that produce them are operating. Just walking by them is not enough to make changes in us.
You can buy a monitor to test the strength of the fields, but they are expensive. The strongest fields I know of are electricity lines and plants. The fields dissipate the further away from them we get, so we should live in homes that are at least 200 feet away from the plants. Machines of all kinds produce the fields, so just don’t stand next to them when they are operating. That would include toasters (oddly, one the strongest fields) microwaves, TVs (remain distant from them, don’t sit right in front of them) and anything you plug in. And remember, even when exposed to carcinogens we don’t all develop cancer.
