The Constant Challenges of Internet Security.

Article by Kelvin N

The challenges of internet security constantly get tougher and tougher all the time. Even the giant, Microsoft, has been successfully attacked by viruses on more than one occassion.

Not long ago, before there was such a thing as the Internet, the only way your computer could get a virus would be if you got it from a floppy disk. It was also obviously alot easier to contain the virus and totally iradicate it. It was almost next to impossible for any virus to become an epidemic.

Also, not like today, most computer users were a lot more knowledgable about computers. They would systematically scan copied disks BEFORE firing up the application, game or whatever it might be.

Now, because of the Internet, the challenges of Internet security have become paramount. The Internet created a conduit for viruses to the point that you don’t even have to download anything to get a virus. One of the easiest way to get a virus is to just visit a site!

Some viruses will even automatically access your address book and without you even knowing it, will email itself to everyone of the addresses you have there. So before anyone knows it, the virus HAS become an epidemic. Since the advent of the Internet, there are now the following ways to get a virus:

emailemail attachmentspeer-to-peer file sharinginstant messagingsoftware downloadsjust to name a few!

It doesn’t stop there though! As technology advances, new types of viruses can now pass from computers to mobile devices, making this an ever increasing threat. Also with more and more people using their computers for online shopping and online banking, there is an even greater threat of personal information being compromised.

Protecting Your Computer

Lucky for us, Antivirus software has kept pace with the virus threats being released daily. Antivirus software has become an essential component to the challenges of internet security and your piece of mind.

A good antivirus software package is designed to protect you against viruses that can access your computer through email, web browsers, file servers and copied disks. Also, these new antiviruses are updateable and are centralized to aid in configuration and manual or automatic scanning any time you want or need.

A computer user should remain diligent and follow a few simple steps to protect against the threat of a virus:

1. Evaluate your current computer security system. With the threat of a new generation of viruses able to attack in a multitude of ways, the approach of having just one antivirus software version has become outdated.

You need to be confident that you have protected all aspects of your computer system from the desktop to the network, and from the gateway to the server. Consider a more comprehensive security system which includes several features including antivirus, firewall, content filtering, and intrusion detection. This type of system will make it more difficult for the virus to penetrate your system.

2. Only install antivirus software created by a well-known, reputable company. Because new viruses erupt daily, it is important that you regularly update your antivirus software. Become familiar with the software’s real-time scan feature and configure it to start automatically each time you boot your computer. This will protect your system by automatically checking your computer each time it is powered up.3. Make it a habit to always scan all new programs or files no matter from where they originate.

4. Exercise caution when opening binary, Word, or Excel documents of unknown sources.

5. Perform regular backups in case your system is corrupted. It may be the only way to recover your data if infected.

Is it possible to get internet on my desktop my connecting it to my laptop that is wirelessly connected? If so, what do I need, exactly? Best answer: Answer by Robert WYou can do this by connecting the 2 PC’s together via either a twisted Lan cable or a hub and 2 cables. You would then use the Conection Sharing software included in XP. In principal, this would use the wireless adapter in your Laptop to connect to the Internet and then share the LAN connection in your Laptop to your Desktop. But why don’t you just buy a wireless adapter (USB is easiest) and plug this into your desktop. You can then use the same Wireless connection to your router? What do you think? Answer below!

Remove Mcafee Internet Security -things You Must Know To Uninstall Mcafee Internet Security
Do you have troubles in uninstalling Mcafee Internet Security and reinstall a new one? If this is the case you have then here is the final solution with easy instruction for you to completely uninstall and delete Mcafee Internet Security from your computer.

First of all, to ensure a safe removal of application on computer, you have to quit all the related programs of Mcafee Internet Security that are running on your system. If that is too difficult to accomplish, you can restart computer and boot it into safe mode by keep pressing F8 from the startup.

Then Uninstall Mcafee Internet Security from Your Computer with Windows Uninstall Wizard.

1 – Go to Start, and click on All Programs.
2- Scroll down the list and right click Mcafee Internet Security
3- Click Uninstall Mcafee Internet Security option to start the removal
Or
2 – Go to your control panel.
3 – Click on the Add/Remove program icon.
4 – You’ll see a big list of programs that are installed on your computer. Select the Mcafee Internet Security.
5 – Click uninstall, and confirm that you want to remove Mcafee Internet Security.

If this method 1 failed, another method that you can perform is to simply go to the directory where the program has been installed into and click on the Mcafee Internet Security folder to select uninstall.

What to Do If You Couldn’t Uninstall Mcafee Internet Security?

However, the direct uninstall of the directory usually fails as the Mcafee Internet Security is leaving multiple entries in computer registry. To complete uninstall of the directory, they need to be removed too but it is highly risky and not recommended.

The smart choice to uninstall Mcafee Internet Security is to use a professional uninstaller that can uninstall software by the three ways above. Also the removal software will scan your registry for any leftover, information, program files, and your drivers after that.

It’s recommended to do this by using Perfect Uninstaller. The Perfect Uninstaller will remove the program for you, and then it will scan your registry for any leftover files and scan your drivers too.

Question by : Are there any Network adapters coming out soon that will enable my tv to connect to the internet? I heard from a very reliable source that such a device is coming out and cost around about £40-£50, does anyone else know of this? I have a 50″ Full HD tv from Lg, and would like to connect it to the internet wirelessly. You see my tv isnt wifi enabled, so this device would have to cater in this particular area… Best answer: Answer by classicsatIf the TV has network features, but only Ethernet, you can get WiFi to Ethernet bridges, or the manufacturer recommended wireless network adapter for your TV. If your TV has no network features at all, you need a media box, which externally adds the network features to any modern TV at least. In the American market, LG has their Smart TV Emabler (works on non LG TVs as well as LG), Apple TV, Boxee Box, WDTV Live+ and Hub, and the Roku line. They sell for under $ 100, to nearly $ 200.
Wireless Broadband Internet Expansion

Since the mid 1990s one of the fastest growing objects has been the internet and its influence over just about every aspect of our lives. From the way we look for information, to communicating with business associates and family to planning our lives, the internet has influenced just about everyone on the planet. In fact, the growth rate of the internet far exceeds any other previous technology. This growth rate has at times been curve geometric and sometimes it has grown exponentially.

Think back to when you first used the internet and there were no search engines such as Google or Bing and certainly no videos or graphics to watch. Now, we can just as easily watch a television show online as we can on our television. In addition, the internet is no longer confined to our laptops or desktop computers. We can now hold it in the palm of our hand on our phones or our tablets.

The internet is actually growing in three different directions all at the same time. It is growing in terms of size, processing power, and software sophistication. In fact, it is growing so much and so fast, at times it almost seems unfathomable. Of course, the most noticeable change to the internet has been in its overall size. In fact, more than half of the world’s population will soon have access to the internet. That is more than three billion people who can log onto the information superhighway at any time. Computers and their power are also now doubling in both power and capacity every eighteen months. This means that computer power is also keeping pace with the third area of growth and that is functionality. Software applications continue to get more and more complex as they build on the previous technology available in order to become more and more sophisticated with each new release. They will continue to evolve into new features and capabilities.

As a result of the expanding internet and the fact that more and more people rely on it throughout their daily lives, the United States is pushing in order to bring service to each and every resident over the next ten years. This expansion is made possible thanks to a huge influx of federal dollars and grants which will help fund the entire project.

But it is not just the regular internet which is getting expanding, but also wireless internet as well. President Obama has endorsed making 500 megahertz of the wireless airwaves available over the next decade. This is to meet the growing need of broadband services for such devices as tablets and smartphones which are becoming more and more popular. Without this move, people may find that there is not enough available space in order to operate their favorite wireless device. These airwaves will come courtesy of repurposing portions of the spectrum where companies can give up what they have and it will be sold in an auction style format. This move could raise several billion dollars in order to expand the spectrum available for consumers.
