I’m wondering. We went from hard drives that could only hold megabytes, then we went to gigabytes, now we’re moving towards terabytes and soon enough something that starts with a z. So what limits harddrive capacity, why can’t it hold like trillions and trillions of gigabytes for example? Same thing about CPU, what limits...

Can external hard drives exceed the maximum capacity of the hard drives for which a motherboard is designed?

I have a motherboard whose maximum total hard drive capacity is something like 150 Gb, but i’m thinking about getting a 300 Gb external USB2 one. If i do this, will it work on this motherboard? Does that limit just apply to IDE or is it any kind of storage at all? OK, interesting....

Last time I bought high capacity ink for my printer but standard is much cheaper. Is it best to stick to higher quality? what’s the difference? Does the cheaper one cause problems?
