if u have an ethernet cord (not net) and the box. (like a comcast box. thats how i hook mine up i consider the ethernet cord plug it into my computer and there need to be a reset button on the back of the box. push it and then your linked (and u dont have to set up the method from your broadband organization and u dont have to hit reset again unless of course u change personal computers)

You must have either a broadband modem or router.
If it is a router, simply connect your laptop to one of the sockets on the back of the router via a network cable.
If it is a modem then you must first load the modem software on the laptop then plug the modem into the laptop instead of the PC. You will not be able to have both connected at the same time.
I have an HP Pavilion PC and an Acer Aspire 7720G laptop and they are both running wireless through the same Netgear router so the answer is yes, you can set up your laptop to run alongside your laptop as long as you use a wireless router. You cannot connect both computers to the same modem.
