    no, your hardware knows what it needs, but having a NOT powerful enough PS can cause you greef.

    No, a power supply is rated by what its capable of putting out. It will however only put out what your system hardware needs.

    Not normally. If the power supply doesn’t have sufficient over-voltage or under-voltage protection it can damage other hardware, but that doesn’t usually happen unless the power supply isn’t powerful enough.

    Computer hardware will only use the power that it needs. If you’ve got a power supply with 850 watts available and your system is only using 350 watts, then the other 500 watts is not really used.

    It’s like engine horsepower. You’re only in trouble if you need more than you have.

    each component has a plug and the power supply has the correct powered plug for them. if you killed something in all probably you plugged it up with power on,don’t ever do that.
