I have had a blue screen come up on my computer several times now, and they usually require my computer to be restarted. This particular message said “hardware error and memory parity error”. Does anyone know what this means and how I can stop these messages from coming up?

It means “hardware error and memory parity error”.

You might try checking to make sure the memory modules are properly seated in their slots. It mgith also be time to replace them, if they’re bad.

Parity is a mathematical concept indicating whether a number is even or odd. In computing, we use parity to ensure that things which store data are functioning properly. As I’m sure we’re all (mostly) aware, everything breaks down to numbers for a computer, so many parts whose purpose is to store those numbers (RAM, hard drives, etc) use parity as a simple check that they are functioning properly. When a number is stored, a parity bit is used to indicate whether that number was even or odd at the time of storage. When the number is later retrieved, it is checked against that parity bit. If parity indicates the number should be even when it is actually odd (or vice versa) a parity error occurs. In the case of system RAM or video RAM it can cause that lovely blue screen. Unless you have installed an after-market video card video and system RAM are often shared, and so RAM would be the best place to start looking for a fix.

    Hope that helped!

The Windows operating system constantly refers to the registry to get information about all of the components such as hardware and software which are installed on the computer. The registry tells Windows what to do and how to access the various programs, files, and processes. However, the registry can contain bad information which sends Windows off doing useless tasks or running unneeded routines. Sometimes errors occur including the blue screen of death. Other times the system slows down. Because of the sheer number of factors that can affect the registry, there’s no one size fits all approach. You can’t just go into the registry and remove the bad information because it’s nearly impossible to decipher which information is good and which information is bad. That’s a job better suited for software. I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com to you ! You can try ! Good luck!
