Question by super.ashley1: What is the best security programme to have on a P.C with Windows Vista?
I used to have Norton 360, but it made my computer so slow and unresponsive that it was virtually impossible to do anything, and i had to keep restarting it. I don’t really know much about them,i just want something that will just let my P.C run as normal without slowing it down. I have windows Vista, what works best with that? Do i download it, or go get a disc from a shop?

Thanks.x

Norton 360 is a built in antivirus for windows vista. You can uninstall it though.

Free:

01. Avast
02. Avira

Tried them both, they work pretty well, for free programs

Paid:

01. Eset Nod32 Antivirus
02. Eset Nod32 Smartsecurity

The difference between the two is smartsecurity also offers protection around the internet, blocking hazardous sites and stuff

You might also want to download MalwareBytes Anti Malware.

I like Kaspersky 2010. It doesn’t realy slow you down much. Has the best firewall, and it hunts malware at the same time that it hunt for viruses.

Try Norton Internet Security 2010.It does not use much resources like the old versions of Norton. You can get a free trial of it to see what you think.

Not going to answer which is the best prog, cause there’s so many of them.

I would however stop the subscription to norton and uinstall it from your pc.

personally i use the free version of avg, but here’s a page for you to decide http://www.freewarefiles.com/category/security.php
