Question by tommy k: Anyone know of a good computer security website?
I’ve been getting into network security and penetration testing, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good, fairly active websites with topics relating to that?

go to poopbutt.org.com.butt.poop. and you will know
try techrepublic.com
I’ve been using this guy’s site for a long time. I think his web design is kind of cheesy, but he’s got all the answers.
http://www.grc.com/default.htm
Hands down, http://www.securityfocus.com/. You should subscribe to the bugtraq list there too, it’s THE source for information about exploits.
http://www.avg.com
http://www.download.com
good luck!
Securityfocus.org is good, but I like actual “hands on” experience.
I like http://www.hackthissite.com which offers a free, safe, legal environment to practice your hacking skills on, with a number of levels which offer increasingly challenging missions.
And if you haven’t already done so, go visit http://www.remote-exploit.org/ to download and play with a new copy of Backtrack4-beta, especially if you’re interested in penetration testing, there is no better hacking and security tool than Backtrack4! And there are just so many other nifty free tools to play with there!
And how about insecure.org ? Nmap network scanning, Bugtraq, what’s not to love?
Hope this helps.
